Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Looking out for the wellness of everyone

New Chapter’s mission has always been to honor the health and well-being of people and planet. Now and always, it is vitally important for us to see, hear, and acknowledge injustices in order to be a force for positive change.

Working toward a more inclusive world.

As a company devoted to wellness, we know that looking out for each other is part of the wellness revolution. We acknowledge we still have much to learn and do: as individuals, as a brand, and as a community.

As we keep working toward a more just and inclusive world, we want to share the steps we’re taking to help foster change.

Founding an employee-led DEI committee.

Formed in June 2020, this team is composed of dedicated leaders of change advocating for diversity, equality, and inclusion throughout the New Chapter organization, community, and wellness industry. We seek to address inequality by asking hard questions, having honest conversations, and taking action. We seek to bolster a culture that actively values and respects personal differences and recognizes individuality as a virtue. We believe that by building a more inclusive culture, all voices can be better heard.

Improving hiring practices.

New Chapter is an equal opportunity employer and strongly encourages applications from diverse communities across race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, and national origin. We have been working to expand our reach to these communities by adding information to postings that specifically and proactively encourages diverse individuals to apply, as well as posting roles to websites where BIPOC are more likely to find them.

Increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in marketing materials.

We believe we can improve the whole wellness industry when we lead by example in the way in which we market New Chapter products that are crafted with care for everyone. In keeping with our commitment to foster a more diverse, equal and inclusive society, standards have been established to monitor the language and images depicted within our marketing and communication materials to avoid bias.

Engaging employees and encouraging feedback.

New Chapter is building awareness amongst employees through workshops, surveys, conversations, and company-wide presentations. Our goals for diversity, equity, and inclusion span the New Chapter family as a whole, as well as helping individuals with specific questions or concerns. By creating a vibrant climate of inclusiveness, we can more effectively leverage and celebrate the resources of diversity to advance our collective well-being.

Supporting social change with philanthropy.

New Chapter is supporting the wellness revolution by expanding into the local and national communities with financial and in-kind support. Somes of the ways we are furthering community wellness include facilitating access to garden spaces, local food supplies, and maternal health services. We will continue working with community BIPOC leaders to learn how we can truly support wellness for all.
