Climate-friendly farming
We are part of a growing agricultural movement called regenerative agriculture. Replacing industrial practices with regenerative ones can reboot plants’ natural cycle of removing carbon from the air by sequestering it in the ground. Along with following organic standards, soil regeneration practices include rotating crops, composting, using cover crops, and avoiding deep tilling. These techniques create healthy, carbon-rich soil that is full of organic matter and holds water like a sponge.
Waste reduction
We compost, recycle, or reuse more than 80% of the waste we produce – everything from lunch leftovers and office paper to pallets and shrink-wrap. And now New Chapter is certified Zero Waste to Landfill, which reduces our carbon footprint and uses energy recovery to convert our waste into clean energy.

Sacred Seeds
GlobalIn 2005, New Chapter created Semillas Sagradas (Sacred Seeds), a global initiative to save endangered plants and healing knowledge. It began in Costa Rica as a single sanctuary for medicinal plants that were vulnerable to the loss of habitat, inappropriate harvesting, or climate change. We worked with indigenous communities, a leading Costa Rican ethnobotanist, and passionate student interns to maintain this unique sanctuary.
Through the protection of these culturally and scientifically significant plant species, we promote awareness of critical plant conservation, preserve biodiversity, and reconnect indigenous communities to their healing heritage. Sacred Seeds is now managed by United Plant Savers and supports sanctuary gardens across the United States and around the world.
Seeds of Resilience
GlobalToday Sacred Seeds is proud to partner with the Women's Earth Alliance in an exciting new project to support women and local agriculture. The joint project, Seeds of Resilience, supports a women's seed trading collective in Karnataka, India. (Karnataka is also where we source several essential New Chapter ingredients, including Turmeric and Ginger.)
